What can we take away from Psalm 23?
What are your takeaways from Psalm 23?
I’ve been living in the Psalms lately!
To me, these relatable chapters are so comforting. They’re all about real people, going through real stuff and talking to God about it! I’ve studied Psalm 23 many times throughout the years. I’ve spent so much time in this chapter because I’ve needed it’s truth so badly. I believe that if we let the promises of this Psalm sink into our hearts they have the ability to change our lives!
Here is my takeaway from Psalm 23.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
According to Psalm 23, God promises to…
- provide for us
- guide us

- give us mercy
- give us love
What an incredible list! 15 promises from God! Want to know what promise I’ve seen God working in my life this last week? His promise to “prepare us.” Wow, it’s so beautiful to me! God loves to set his children up to be blessed. His word says He prepares a table before us. He makes our crooked paths straight. God is in the business of timing. Even though we often don’t see it and it always seems to happen way later than we want, God strategically orchestrates our life to unfold the way He knows is best. He prepares us for each new day of our journey with Him.
