2017 Summer Reading List

Hi everyone and happy summer!

The season of sunshine, beach days, and reading by the pool has officially begun. I am so happy! I wanted to share my summer reading list with you.

Have you seen some of the “Summertime Must Reads” on Pinterest that include like 9 books!? I enjoy reading but let’s be honest, I enjoy Netflix way more! 9 novels is a little too much for me. So today I’ll be sharing with you my simple summer reading list. It’s 2 hardcovers and 2 audiobooks. Hopefully what I share today inspires you to make a fun and realistic summer reading list of your own!

2017 Summer Reading List

Driven by Eternity by John Bevere

Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

These are the audiobooks I’m listening to this summer. There is nothing quite like an audiobook! I love the convenience of being able to listen while I drive, cook, or clean the house. I am about 1/2 way through both of these and really enjoying them. 🙂

My take-away so far: Driven by Eternity is definitely one of the most challenging books I have ever read. John Bevere tackles every hard subject you can think of. Heaven. Hell. Eternity. Sin. Legacy. Destiny. It’s a bit of a mind bender…but I’m totally loving it. If you’re looking for something to really stretch your faith- go grab a copy.

My take-away so far: Fervent is incredible! It’s powerful, inspiring, and so encouraging. Priscilla Shirer teaches how prayer can literally change everything. She dives into the strategies of the enemy and how to defeat him through strategic prayer. I’m constantly shouting, “Yes!” “Amen!” and “Totally!” while listening to this book in my car. 🙂

(You also can see in the image above that just finished two other audiobooks by John Bevere’s wife, Lisa. They were fantastic. I will tell you more about them soon!)

Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist

Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller

My take-away so far: Let’s just say my copy of Present Over Perfect could never be borrowed by a friend to read. Nearly every page is covered in highlighter, scribbled notes and underlines. I highly recommend this book if you’re searching for a little summer inspiration on the theme of “resting in God.” Shauna Niequist’s writing style is so beautiful and easy to read.

I just picked up Blue Like Jazz at the library last week and haven’t started it yet. I listen to Donald Miller’s podcast, “Building a Storybrand” every week and am blown away at his genius. I’m really looking forward to reading his book!

I can’t wait to review these books in September for you!

What are you reading this summer?

Happy relaxing 🙂
