Amazed by God’s Love


 This morning during my Quiet Time I started singing the Paul McCartney song, “Maybe I’m Amazed.” I haven’t heard it in years but for some reason in popped in my head as I was writing.

As I sang, the lyrics kept jumping out at me. I realized many of the lines in that song describe perfectly how I feel about God!

“Maybe I’m amazed at the way you love me all the time. Maybe I’m amazed at the way I really need you.”

Isn’t God’s love for us so amazing? It floors me to think about. God created each one of us on purpose and for a purpose. Your life was planned, wanted, and chosen.  God makes no mistakes. He loves us fiercely and completely. Check out what the bible says about God’s love for us in the Message translation of Romans 8

“So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God’s chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us—who was raised to life for us!—is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! …I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus has embraced us.”

So there you have it, friends! Nothing can separate us from God’s love.

So in honor of Valentine’s Day I’m here to remind you of who loved you first. 

God loves you.

He loves us more than we could ever know! And that is amazing!
