2 Ways You Can Surrender to God’s Design
This morning I was thinking about the word “surrender” and how it plays into our walk with God. Once removed from the world’s definition (surrender= we lost or gave up) surrender has so many incredible meanings! One definition I’ve come to learn is to get to a place of acceptance with God.
Today I am reminding myself that I must surrender to God’s design.
The Lord has designed each one of us the way we are on purpose. He’s also designed to bring good through the things He’s placed in our life.
The more we fight with God on the things He’s hand selected for us, the harder it is to feel peace in surrendering. We end up feeling resentful of the way He made us or resentful for the way He’s orchestrated our life.
There are two famous portions of Scripture that prove surrendering to God’s design is the best thing we can do! You may have heard this part of the Word before but I urge you to read it just one more time.
I pray your eyes are opened to seeing it in a new way.
Here are two ways we can surrender to God’s design.
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
- God is the designer and we are His design. Like a blanket, we were intricately woven together /string by string/ to be created exactly the way He intended.
Submitting to His design means we accept the way He made us.
And I want to emphasize the importance in accepting the way he made us on the inside, too! Our personality, talents, quirks, and giftings. These were hand chosen deliberately by God! Wow! Incredible to think He took so much time and thought when He made us.
It’s a process, but I’m learning to love the way He made me inside and out.
2. Another way God wants us to surrender to His design is by trusting Him in the way He’s set up our life. There are several things that God orchestrated way before we were born- when we had no choice at all!
He picked our parents, our siblings, where we were born, what time period in which we live, etc! Some things are unchangeable and I am positive God designed that for a reason. Here is what the Word says,
“ And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
This verse proves that when we surrender to the things God designed He can bring good into any situation!
Instead of fighting what God did on purpose, lets embrace the way He designed things!
Here’s my point. Most of our life will be set up like this.
Do you know what I mean? Although God is involved in every single thing we do, we are allowed to exercise our free will and make our own choices!
So, for all the things we didn’t choose- lets take that as a sign that God did it on purpose and it’s all part of the plan.
Let’s embrace God’s design with open arms today!
// Good morning Lord! I ask that you fill our hearts with joy as we surrender to You. We can trust that everything you’ve placed in our life has divine purpose. Thank you for being our designer!
